A woman has been taken to hospital after being found beaten up with 'blood pouring out' of her.
Part of Luton Road, Chatham, near its junction with Castle Road, has been cordoned off by police since 8.27 am this morning.
Staff at a McColls supermarket, which is now in the police cordon, captured the incident on their CCTV.
One shop worker said: "A car was parked and as the woman, who looked in her early 20s, walked past two people got out and really badly beat her up then drove off.
"Her head was swollen and blood was pouring out.
"My colleague called the ambulance and sat with her until it came.
"She was very scared and confused.
"She couldn’t remember her name or what had just happened."
The woman has been taken to a London hospital for treatment.
Police and ambulance were called to the scene at 8.27am.
One mum who lives in Ocelot Court, off Luton Road said: "I walked past and saw the woman leaning against the wall.
"Her bag was on the floor and her phone was smashed.
"I had to encourage my children to walk around her because they were scared."
Two empty double decker buses were caught within the cordon, so people may experience travel delays.
The road was closed to traffic while officers conduct inquires to establish the full circumstances.
Meanwhile, police have began searching a block of flats.
