Woman suffers back injuries in crash involving VW Golf and Mercedes in Pier Road, Gillingham

A woman has suffered back injuries in a crash in Gillingham this afternoon.
A VW Golf and a Mercedes collided on Pier Road, at the junction with Pegasus Way.
It happened at about 1.30pm.
Both lanes of the A289 heading towards Rainham have been closed due to a fuel spillage at the junction.
The crash happened close to the Liberty Quays student accommodation.
Police, fire and ambulance crews remain on the scene.
