Arrest after woman raped in Rochester High Street

A man is in custody after a woman was allegedly raped in a town centre.
Police launched an investigation following reports of the incident in Rochester High Street in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A man has been arrested in connection with the alleged sexual assault.
Police spokesman Vicki Foster said: "Kent Police received a report that a woman had been raped by a man in the early hours of the morning on Sunday 11 September 2022 in Rochester High Street.
"Officers carried out some fast-track inquiries and arrested a man in his 30s later the same day."
The man currently remains in custody while inquiries continue.
The incident is alleged to have happened just hours before the formal proclamation of the accession of King Charles III to the throne at ceremony in the nearby Rochester Castle Gardens
