Robber steals back pack after striking woman from behind and putting his hand over her mouth in York Avenue, Gillingham

A woman was left with a scratch under her eye after a robber put his hand across her mouth and pulled her hair.
The victim was robbed of her rucksack in the incident, which happened in York Avenue, Gillingham, shortly before 9pm on Tuesday.
She told police the robber approached her from behind before putting his hand across her mouth, pulling her hair, stealing her backpack and running off.
A police spokesman said: “The incident left the victim with a scratch under her eye.
“The suspect is described as a man with an athletic build. He was wearing dark coloured gloves and had his face covered by a dark material.”
