Woman saved at station

14:11, 05 January 2012

An eyewitness has told how a young man sprang into action when a woman fainted and fell onto the track at Rochester railway station.

Linda Evans, from Strood, was on the platform at 10.30am on Wednesday when she saw the drama unfold just minutes before a London-bound train was due to pull into the station.

She said: “It was a couple of minutes before the train was due. She appeared to have fainted.

“Nobody seemed to do anything and this young man jumped down onto the track to help her.”

A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman said: “A woman in her 30s fell onto the railway track at Rochester railway station at 10.30am yesterday (Wednesday)

“The casualty suffered a head injury and scratches to her arms after the fall. We took her to Medway Maritime Hospital”.
