A woman has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash on a busy dual carriageway.
Police and paramedics were called shortly before 5pm when the woman, who was a pedestrian, was hit by a car in Hoath Way, Gillingham.
Officers remain at the scene of the crash where the woman, whose family have been informed, was treated by paramedics earlier this evening.
A police spokesman said she was taken to hospital in London.
The road was closed in both directions between the Hempstead Valley and Gillingham Business Park roundabouts while officers investigate.
It has since reopened towards the M2 while the Gillingham-bound side of the road remains shut while a vehicle is recovered.
Motorists have been advised to use an alternative route.
Anyone who witnessed the crash is urged to call police on 01634 792209, quoting reference number 04-0790.
