Two women have been rescued from a burning building.
Firefighters were called to Fairway Close in Rochester at 2.30pm today after a tumble dryer fire destroyed the ground floor of a house.
When fire crews arrived they entered the home and carried two women - one in her late 60s and her daughter - to safety.
A man in the house had heard the fire alarm go off and went to investigate.
He discovered the tumble dryer was alight and called 999, before helping his elderly dad out of the house.
A neighbour also went into the property to help another family member out to safety.
Both women and the elderly father were taken to hospital by ambulance suffering from the effects of breathing in smoke.
Three fire engines and around 14 firefighters were sent to the house to tackle the blaze.
The fire destroyed half of the ground floor of the house and crews also had to ventilate two neighbouring properties which were smoke logged.
A Red Cross vehicle was also providing practical and emotional support to the residents.
The crews left at 3.23pm.
