Work has began on a new KFC.
The land at Horsted Retail Park in Chatham is earmarked for the fast food restaurant, an Aldi, Home Bargains and a UFC Gym.
Plans for the disused site in Maidstone Road were approved in April.
Toys R Us went into administration last year and the unit has been empty since.
UFC Gym is an American brand of MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) gyms. The branch is expected to have 24-hour access.
Land owners Royal London subdivided the site after it struggled to get one business to the 3,702 square metre plot.
The businesses will be open to the public in spring 2020.
It is hoped the project will create 88 full-time and part-time jobs, with the “majority” available to local residents.
