Body of man in his 20s pulled from River Medway near Dockside Outlet, Chatham

The body of a young man has been pulled from a river.

Police were called at around 10.46am on Tuesday to reports a person was seen in the River Medway near the Dockside centre in Chatham.

Officers, paramedics, the fire service, and HM Coastguard were called to the scene in Main Gate Road.

A spokesman for the Sheerness RNLI also confirmed the station’s inshore lifeboat (ILB) was launched at 11.10am to the Chatham Maritime area of the River Medway following reports of a person in the water but the crew was later stood down.

The body of a man in his 20s was recovered and he was confirmed dead.

A police spokesman added: “His death is being treated as non-suspicious and a report will be completed for the coroner.”
