St Matthew's Church, Wigmore perform You're What?! Pregnant?!, a nativity with a difference
12:00, 19 December 2016
For a nativity play with a difference head to St Matthew’s Church in Wigmore tomorrow at 7.30pm.
You’re What? Pregnant? is being performed by the same company who wrote, directed and performed the Passion Play at Parkwood Green at Easter last year.
After the success of the Passion Play, which told the story of Jesus’ crucifixion, the cast suggested they would also like to put on a nativity play to tell the story of his birth.
Geoff Hutton agreed to write the script and Geoff Down (from Wigmore Music and Drama Society) came on board to direct once again.
The play is in fact two plays, fitted together to tell the traditional nativity story alongside a contemporary version addressing modern day issues.
Mr Hutton said: “Geoff Down has brought his usual skill, enthusiasm and imagination to proceedings. As for myself, it has once again been a great thrill to see and hear the words being brought to life by so many committed, enthusiastic and talented people.
“In addition to the live action there are also some filmed sequences and we are also fortunate to have the services of a harpist at a key moment.”
Admission is free at the church in Drewery Drive, but tickets must be pre-booked. To book a seat, contact Sue Warren on 01634 372508 or email sue.j.warren@hotmail.co.uk
Wigmore Voices are looking for a conductor/musical director to provide piano accompaniment at their choir rehearsals.
The choir, who meet every Thursday at 8pm at St Matthew’s Community Centre, sing a wide range of music from John Rutter to the Beatles.
Contact Geoff Down on 01634 362506 or Jackie Hopkins on 01634 379740.
