07:30, 12 September 2017

Gillingham are expecting a battle at AFC Wimbledon.

The Dons have lost their last two games without scoring, while the Gills are still looking for a first league win.

Ady Pennock is desperate for a win and is glad the Wimbledon game is coming so quickly after the 3-0 loss at Oxford.

The head coach said: “We are not licking our wounds for a week and we can’t wait, let’s hope come Tuesday night we will get our first win, what we all want.

“We need to do more than what we did (on Saturday). We know it’s a tight ground, they are passionate fans, but we know what to expect.

“It will be a battle. We have to roll up our sleeves and fight for our football club.”

Gillingham are set to be without midfielder Billy Bingham, with concussion, while striker Liam Nash has revealed on twitter that he is also out of action.

The Gills come face to face with a number of former players, including striker Cody McDonald.

McDonald has yet to get off the mark in the league, notching his only goal of the season so far in the Checkatrade Trophy.

McDonald was offered a new contract by Pennock at the end of last season, but he chose to take on a new challenge with Wimbledon instead.

Pennock, speaking of his former player, said: “He has been on the bench recently but he will have something to prove.

“More importantly, we have a lot to prove, we have to prove to people that we are here for the fight and are up for it.”

Also likely to feature on Tuesday are Gills’ 2009 play-off winning pair Barry Fuller and Andy Barcham.
