Gills boss Justin Edinburgh isn’t stressing over Stuart Nelson’s misfortune at Wigan.
The Gillingham keeper made a mess of Max Power’s 25-yard shot, letting the effort slip through his grasp and allowing Wigan to level Thursday’s League 1 clash.
But Edinburgh is only too aware of the terrific saves Nelson has made this season.
Edinburgh said: “He could have another 40 games and he will catch that.
“He has made saves that have kept us in games and that is football.
“It’s the nature of being a goalkeeper. There was nobody there to clear it off the line for him.
“Everyone scrutinises it as a goalkeeper because more times than not there is nobody else to help them out. They are usually the last line of defence. It is what it is.”
Nelson only recently bagged his 100 Football League clean sheet and spoke last week about the special moment.
