Gillingham's Bradley Garmston set to play at left-back ahead of Brennan Dickenson against Bury in League 1

Bradley Garmston has made Justin Edinburgh’s toughest decision a whole lot easier as Gillingham prepare to face Bury.

The League 1 promotion rivals meet at Priestfield on Saturday, with Brennan Dickenson available at left-back after serving a one-match ban.

But Garmston’s man-of-the-match performance against Yeovil in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy on Tuesday night means he’s likely to keep the shirt when third-placed Gills host a Bury side who sit sixth.

Gillingham boss Edinburgh said: “Choosing between them is probably the most difficult decision. They’re both top boys, top players and competing hard for that position.

“That was the kind of performance we know Bradley is capable of and if he continues to play like that then no-one is going to take his place because he was outstanding.

“It was a fantastic performance, not only his goal but the way he drove on, crosses he put in the box and he defended very well.

“It’s a tough choice but it’s quite an easy one after Tuesday night’s performance.”

Adedeji Oshilaja came through 45 minutes as Gills lost on penalties to Yeovil, leaving Luke Norris (ankle) as the only absentee in Edinburgh’s 21-man squad.

Striker Norris is progressing nicely but won’t feature until next month at the earliest.

Edinburgh said: “He’s well ahead of schedule but it’s still going to be December before he’s back playing.

“What it’s proved to everyone on the outside and the supporters is how good a player he is and how important he is to us because we have missed him of late.

“The sooner we get him back the better but obviously we’ve got to be cautious that we don’t rush him back.”
