How’s about this for a goal celebration in the Medway Messenger Youth League?
Hempstead Valley Colts under-11s take the lead in the John Leeds Trophy final through Ben Fox on Sunday and the goalscorer then reads the Riot Act to his team-mates. Fox went on to score a hat-trick and also set up two in a 5-0 win.
It’s a celebration made famous by former Hull midfielder Jimmy Bullard, who responded to a half-time on-pitch dressing-down by boss Phil Brown at Manchester City in 2008 by marking his goal at the same venue the following season by repeating the scene.
But Hempstead boss Stuart Carey revealed that Fox was actually telling his team-mates ‘we’re not going to fail.’
Carey said: “I was telling the boys we could make history by winning back-to-back trophies. I told them we weren’t going to fail and he has gone and picked up on that!”
