The tough tests keep coming for Chatham Town with EFL opposition heading to the Bauvill Stadium tonight.
Kevin Hake’s Isthmian Premier side take on a Bromley outfit which is likely to comprise the League 2 team’s under-21 players.
Chats have enjoyed a run of quality opposition during pre-season and crowds above 1,000 for the visit of Gillingham and Maidstone United.
The Stones were the weekend visitors and the National South side departed with a narrow 1-0 win.
Hake said: “Saturday was a good test for us against Maidstone.
“It was a hot day and it was necessary for players to get good minutes in their legs as the season is less than two weeks away.
“You can read too much into pre-season but it’s nice to test yourselves against higher opposition.
“We aspire to be where Maidstone are and be a full-time club as it makes such a difference.
“Bromley will be another tough test for us.”
Chats have added plenty of new faces over the summer, including former Premier League striker Freddie Sears and Gillingham captain Stuart O’Keefe.
Their Isthmian Premier Division season gets under way on Saturday, August 10 away at Lewes.
Hake said: “Pre-season overall couldn’t have gone any better so it’s now a case of fine tuning certain bits of our game and working to improve the team individually and collectively.
“The fans have welcomed both new and old players into the club and their is a nice buzz around the place.
“Crowds have been great as well and to get over 1,200 to friendlies is unreal and we’ve done that against Gillingham and Maidstone.”
Kick off tonight is at 7.45pm. Chatham are due to play Herne Bay on Saturday (3pm) ahead of their season opener.
