Kevin Hake’s Isthmian Premier Division side missed out on promotion last season after losing in the play-off final but are already planning on another assault this term.

They kicked off the summer’s pre-season programme with a game at home to Grays on Saturday which ended goalless.

The line-up included new signings Bradley Sach, Kofi Anokye-Boadi, Stuart O’Keefe and Bailey Akehurst.

Hake’s men will host Isthmian South East side Sheppey United tomorrow (Tuesday) night.

Chats will have played nine pre-season games before they kick off the new season and the match against Coventry City looks the standout fixture.

The Sky Blues, managed by Mark Robins, haven’t announced the strength of the team that’s likely to face Chatham. Their senior squad includes Kent-born defender and Gillingham fan Luis Binks who recently joined them permanently from Bologna.

Last season Coventry reached the semi-final of the FA Cup, where they almost toppled Manchester United, having beaten Maidstone United in the fifth round.

This summer Chatham will also host a Gills XI on Friday, July 19 and take on newly promoted EFL side Bromley at the Bauvill on Tuesday, July 30 in what looks like an exciting month of football at the club ahead of the new league season.
