Chatham Town have reached a groundshare agreement with a team from West Sussex.
Crawley-based side Three Bridges, who play in the Isthmian South East, are installing a 3G pitch at their Jubilee Field ground and need a place to play for the first half of the 2024/25 season.
Chatham have made good use of their own all-weather facility, enabling football at all levels to take place throughout the week.
For Three Bridges, their fans will be facing a 100-mile round trip for home games next season.
Having announced the groundshare, Three Bridges said that the arrangement is from August until November/December, when they expect works to have been completed.
The club said: “A huge thanks to Chatham Town and their chairman Kevin Hake for their assistance and agreeing to the ground share for the first part of the 24/25 season.
“The Bauvill Stadium is widely renowned as one of the best grounds in the Isthmian League and has had a 3G surface in place since 2019.
“Using this facility will benefit our playing squad greatly as we prepare to play on a 3G surface of our own from winter 2024 onwards.”
For some of the club’s Kent rivals, it will mean a shorter journey for a match. Sheppey United are due to play Three Bridges, now set to be at Chatham, in the Isthmian South East season opener on August 10.
Hythe Town and Margate are among the teams who will be playing Three Bridges at Chatham this coming season.
Three Bridges have a women’s team who are playing closer to home, in Horley, while the works are undertaken.
