We are managing to get plenty of game-time now – even if we aren’t getting minutes with the first team.

We have played a few reserve games recently and they are important.

Under other managers, we didn’t really have that opportunity to go and play, apart from going out on loan, but I like being around it here and to get the minutes when you aren’t playing is good.

You know if you are called upon for a first team game you have got minutes in your
legs, your fitness is up and you know you can do it.

I have got a few goals in those games, with one against Southend and then another recently against Dagenham. That’s made it three goals from my last three starts.

Even those reserve games can be tough.

Dagenham were physical and strong but we did well with a young team. We were 1-0 down at half-time but turned it around.

I am pleased to have been in and around the first team more this season than I have been in previous years. I have been getting a few more minutes and a few starts in the cup, which have been good to me and I also got my first goal earlier this month against Reading.

The goal came after about 15 seconds. I didn’t have much time to think about it, the ball just came at me and I was buzzing to see it go in.

Sometimes it can help, not having that time to think and coming so early in the game. With my first touch as it came across, I didn’t think about it and it went in.

The strikers here are doing well and the likes of Tom Eaves and Josh Parker are scoring.

That helps. When you are not playing all you can do is watch and try and learn off them. I watch quite a lot of football, I am always watching what others are doing, I support Chelsea and someone like Alvaro Morata is someone good to watch.

It’s not a good month to be getting fined because in November everything is double bubble, ahead of the players’ Christmas get together.

I got fined for leaving my flip flops lying around when I went home, which was pretty stupid. I’m not the worst for fines, though, I would imagine Tom Eaves is feeling it at the moment. He’s had a bad week!
