Greg Cundle continued his goalscoring form for Gillingham on Tuesday afternoon.

The Gills beat Ebbsfleet United 2-0 in a practice game, with Cundle joining Ben Chapman on the scoresheet.

That goal for 20-year-old Cundle comes after recently scoring his first senior goal for the Gills, in their 7-5 Checkatrade Trophy win against Reading.

Cundle also netted in recent reserve games against Southend and Dagenham.

His effort hasn’t gone unnoticed and first team boss Steve Lovell insists his chance at senior level will come.

“Greg has been very unlucky not to be given a chance yet,” admitted the Gills boss.

“It is hard for me because he hasn’t played that many games at a level where we can judge him. There hasn’t been the time to throw him on yet but there will be because I have all the time in the world for Greg.

“Hopefully there will be a time when I can say to him, ‘go and show me what you can do’.

“He will have an opportunity because he is probably one of the best finishers in the club.”

Gillingham’s midweek match gave an opportunity for several players to have a run-out, including central defensive duo Alex Lacey and Ben Nugent.

Lovell selected a handful of trialists in the match that also included Stuart Nelson in goal, Finn O’Mara, Aaron Simpson, Darren Oldaker and Noel Mbo.
