He said: “I couldn’t have imagined in my wildest dreams to have got six goals (at this stage of the season) and it is going well. The ball just seems to be dropping to me in the right places and long may that continue.

“It is going really well for me personally but at the end of the day the team is the most important thing and picking up three points is brilliant.

“As an attacking midfielder I think my target was to get to 10 goals as quick as possible. That is going well. Anything after 10 is a bonus.”

Dack netted the winner with just eight minutes left on Saturday to keep the Gills top of League 1.

Describing the moment he smashed home the winner, Dack said: “The ball went over the top to Rory (Donnelly), he has lashed it across the box and luckily enough it has taken a nice ricochet and landed in my path.

“It was a tough game and the gaffer said to us before that we can’t take any team for granted.

“Blackpool are struggling at the bottom of the league and we knew they would fight for everything. We started really well but they nicked the goal in the second half and had a good spell when they were on top. We weathered the storm and I always felt we are going to score a winning goal.

“We are confident at the moment and a winning goal always feels around the corner.

“It is a great feeling to be sitting at the top of the league after seven games. Hopefully we can just keep picking up the points.”
