Gillingham dropped back into the League 1 drop zone on Saturday night.
A 3-1 defeat at fellow strugglers Crewe was Gills’ third straight league defeat and it means a relegation scrap looks a certainty but goalscoring midfielder Bradley Dack remains confident that the team will put things right.
“We need to come together as a team and go again against Coventry (next Saturday) and hopefully get another three points,” said Dack.
“It’s been tough for us in the last few games. The (caretaker management team) haven’t had a lot of time to work with us on the training ground.
“It hasn’t been the easiest but we have put everything into it. We have to keep plugging away.
“We are in it now, we are in the bottom four. Only we can get ourselves out of it. Nobody else is going to do it for us. We have to keep working hard.
“Things can change really quickly. I am sure we will get results because we are a good group. We just need that rub of the green.”
Dack is right behind the current management team and added: “The four of them are doing a really good job but it is not for us to decide, that is down to the chairman and maybe if it gets sorted soon we might be in a better position, but who knows.”
