Defender Deji Oshilaja is all set for a Priestfield return.
Cardiff manager Russell Slade has agreed to let the centre-back renew his spell at Gillingham.
Oshilaja had an impressive first loan spell at Gillingham, clocking up 15 appearances for the club, before being recalled.
Defensive injuries in the Cardiff team meant Slade was reluctant to let Oshilaja stay on at Priestfield any longer.
But he has now agreed to a 93-day loan deal, which is likely to include a recall clause after the first month.
Gillingham chairman Paul Scally was finalising the new loan deal this week ahead of the trip to Blackpool on Saturday but Oshilaja may not be available this weekend.
The club are considering when best to begin the new arrangement.
Mr Scally said: “It has been agreed and Deji wants to come, he loves it here. We are just sorting out the paperwork and the loan scenario.”
