Cambridge manager Shaun Derry distances himself from Gillingham speculation

The latest favourite for the vacant Gillingham job is Cambridge United manager Shaun Derry.
However, the manager of the League 2 outfit has distanced himself from the speculation linking him with the Priestfield role.
Derry only has eight months left on his contract at Cambridge and has regularly been linked with moves to other clubs in recent months, including Hearts and Chesterfield.
But Derry told the Cambridge News: “It’s like a broken record, I can only say what I said last week. Speculation will always, always travel around football constantly. I’m sat here as the manager of Cambridge and enjoying my job.
“It’s one of them situations where I just don’t look into it. I just come in, do my job, look forward and try to prepare the best possible for Saturday.
"When you can really clear your head that way it really helps you with the role that you’ve got, and I think I’m good at that. It’s part of the game, you get it at every level.”
Skybet have 39-year-old former QPR and Crystal Palace defender Derry as the 5/6 favourite to take over at Priestfield, with Nolberto Solano and Peter Taylor 7/2.
