Gillingham's Cody McDonald and Doug Loft will face Southend United in a development team match
11:43, 02 September 2015
Captain Doug Loft and striker Cody McDonald will both be named in Gillingham’s development team on Wednesday.
The Gills take on Southend United at Beechings Cross in their first Final Third Development League outing of the season.
Both Loft and McDonald have recently returned from injuries and will get valuable match time in the club’s development side.
Emmanuel Osadebe, who is also back from injury, will also get a run-out in the match.
Bradley Garmston (calf) may not be risked as he is still recovering from a slight injury picked up in the Capital One Cup game against Birmingham City. He could, however, be back in time for Saturday’s League 1 game against Doncaster.
Gillingham could also include Callum Davies. THe defender is back from a brief loan spell with Bromley, which didn't work out as planned.
"For one reason or another the loan period didn’t work as we would have wished," said Gills manager Justin Edinburgh.
Davies is likely to be made available for loan again in mid-September when his deal at Bromley officially ends.
Aaron Morris is expected to be back in training at the end of the week but is not ready for the weekend.
