Gills boss Justin Edinburgh hopes to see his team back up their form on the road with some home success.

A 1-0 win at Crewe made it back-to-back wins for table-topping Gills on their travels, having beaten Chesterfield 3-1 away the week before.

They now have home games against Scunthorpe on Tuesday night and Southend on Saturday to look forward to.

Edinburgh said: “The long journey home was made worthwhile with a win and we’re now looking forward to back to back home games.

“We now have to regroup and refocus. We have two really tough home games coming up. We don’t want to make these three points wasted by not winning at home.”

Saturday’s win, coupled with defeats for the top two, led to the Gills climbing back top of the table and opening up a two point gap over the teams below.

“The table speaks for itself but we won’t get carried away,” said the Gills manager.

“It is about trying to replicate and continue and to keep grounded and better ourselves every day. That is what this group do.

“This group have energy, they have spirit and a real togetherness and they go to the end. They got their rewards for it on Saturday.”

Gillingham have yet to taste defeat at home this season, winning five and drawing one in their six league games at Priestfield.
