Lordswood are still in the thick of the most exciting Kent League Premier Division title race for years – with just three games left.

Victory at long-term leaders Sevenoaks Vine last weekend was Lordswood’s fourth in a row and their most important of the season.

It means they host struggling Bromley this weekend knowing the championship is still up for grabs if they can hold their nerve.

The top four teams are covered by just 15 points. Blackheath lead the way on 209, ahead of Sevenoaks Vine (204), Hartley Country Club (200) and Lordswood (194).

On the final day of the season, Lordswood host Hartley and Blackheath go to Sevenoaks.

Lordswood captain Linden Lockhart said: "It’s a strange one for all of us. We finished second last year – that was our best-ever finish – but I’ve never been in the shake-up with three games to go.

"We’ve got to beat Bromley (on Saturday) and Bickley (next week) and if we’re still in it after those two games, Hartley on the last day will be massive.

"It’s difficult not to get carried away but we’ve got to make sure we win on Saturday.

"If we mess up against Bromley or Bickley, it’s all over. We’ve got to make sure we’re in the hunt with one game to go.

"The other teams at the top will be fairly worried about us being involved. We’re not the kind of side you want to play when it gets down to the crunch."
