Invicta Dynamos lost ground in their pursuit of top spot in the NIHL Division 1 South on Sunday.
A 3-1 defeat to title rivals Chelmsford Chieftains leaves the Mos sitting third in the table.
They had gone into the match on Sunday buoyed by an 11-4 away win at basement side Milton Keynes Thunder the day before.
Saturday’s game started well, with goals from Arran Strawson, Callum Fowler and Juraj Huska putting them 3-0 up in the first.
Both sides hit three goals apiece in the second period, with Fowler getting his second and being joined on the scoresheet by Andy Smith and Daniel Hammond.
Dynamos scored five more goals in the third session, as Smith, Marek Nahlik, Hammond and Fowler - completing his hat-trick. The good form didn’t last.
Mos netminder Chris Douglas was kept busy early on against the Chieftains, who ended the first period 1-0 up.
Chelmsford added a second before Shaun Wild’s deflected effort halved the deficit, going into the final session.
The Essex side finished the Mos off with a third in the third session, to take the crucial two points.
