Invicta Dynamos pushed the leading sides close last weekend but their head coach won’t be taking the visit of bottom team MK Thunder lightly this Saturday.

Karl Lennon’s men lost 6-4 at Slough Jets on Saturday and were beaten 2-1 by reigning champions Streatham the following day, leaving the victors first and second respectively and the Mos fifth in the NIHL South Division 1 table.

Following four successive defeats over the previous two weekends, Lennon knows his men need to start picking up the pace again.

He said: “Milton Keynes are a team at the base of the table at the moment, and we are gunning for the two points that we haven’t got in the last two weeks. We need to start putting some wins together and when better than Saturday coming up.

“I won’t take anything for granted. At the moment we need wins, that is the most important thing and I want to make sure everyone is firing on all cylinders as best they can.”

The Mos had nine players missing last weekend, including a couple on duty with the GB roller hockey squad. Others unavailable could also return, which would be a boost.

Among the injured players were Arran Strawson with a cracked rib, Regan O’Neil, out with an injured hip, and Josh Condren, suffering an elbow injury. Oliver Bronnimann is also in the treatment room.

The Mos will play just one game this weekend as the previously scheduled match away to MK Thunder this Sunday has been rescheduled for a date in March.

Reaching a milestone last weekend was the Mos captain Harrison Lillis, making it to three figures for points with the club.

While Lennon recognised the feat of making it into triple figures he was also keen to praise his captain for the way he helped get the players back on song last weekend after a poor showing the week before.

“Credit to him for his performances across the weekend,” said the head coach.

“He has had a tough start to the season. He has had the responsibility put on his shoulders to be captain this season and that is not easy and I know that myself because I have done it, but he really gathered the boys together with the other leaders on the team last week.

“They sat down together, they were not happy about how we performed the week before and I got the response from them this week.

“He led that team really well, and as much as I was proud of them all, I was proud of him for the achievement but also the way he led the team.

“I remember the most successful teams I played on we had 12, 13 leaders in them. You can’t carry anyone in any level of sport, you are only as good as your weakest player and when they take collective responsibility it is more powerful than trying to do it as individuals. That is something certainly the younger guys need to learn and they are, which is good.”
