Justin Edinburgh faces stiff competition for the League 1 manager-of-the-month award.
The Gills started their December campaign with a home defeat over Burton Albion in a top-of-the-table clash.
But they bounced back in style, with wins over Millwall, Swindon and Colchester.
The Gills aren’t the only side in form, however.
December was a good month for Walsall and Sheffield United, both teams going unbeaten.
The Blades, under Nigel Adkins, followed up an FA Cup win over Oldham with wins over Coventry, Scunthorpe and Bradford, conceding just one goal in those four games.
Walsall have changed managed but the form remains consistent.
Sean O’Driscoll took over from Dean Smith after he departed for Brentford and it’s been a faultless start.
O’Driscoll stated his stint with a 2-0 win over Port Vale and then enjoyed wins over Millwall (1-0) and Peterborough (2-0), making their 3-0 loss on Saturday at home to Rochdale even more surprising.
Barnsley’s Lee Johnson is also in the running. His team are starting to find some form at the wrong end of the table, with wins over Colchester and Blackpool sitting either side of a 2-0 home defeat to Wigan.
The winner will be announced on Friday.
