Gillingham manager Justin Edinburgh wants a response after Burton inflict first home defeat in League 1 this season

Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Burton isn't one boss Justin Edinburgh wants to dwell on for too long.

It was 13 games unlucky for the Gills, whose previous League 1 defeat at home was to Fleetwood in early April.

That impressive unbeaten run at Priestfield has given them a fighting chance of pushing for promotion this season.

“It’s disappointing and the run has come to an end but we move on,” Edinburgh said.

“We were desperate for it not to go. It is a long time, April to now, and it is a shame that we didn’t take it into the new year, which would have been a fantastic effort.

"But it is done, it’s out the way and we just have to try and respond.

“We have always been able to do that and we go again. It was something we were proud of.”
