Max Ehmer has agreed a new deal with the Gills.
The defender is one of several key men coming to the end of their current contracts at the club.
Ehmer recently passed 150 appearances with the club, who he joined from QPR on a permanent basis in the summer of 2015.
His signing came after a successful loan spell.
A new deal takes him to the end of the 2019/20 season.
Ehmer said: “I’m enjoying my football, the fans have been excellent and my focus now is to ensure we finish the season on a high.”
Boss Steve Lovell, who has made Ehmer a regular at the back alongside Gabriel Zakuani, said: "I'm really pleased Max has signed. He's a true professional, he's had a good season and this is a reward for all the hard work he has put in."
