Barry Middleton sealed the points for Holcombe Men on Saturday as they came from behind to beat Oxted.

Holcombe were trailing to a Timothy Guise-Brown goal in the Premier Division clash after half an hour but Sam Hooper levelled four minutes later, the first of his two goals in the match.

Hooper converted his second from a penalty corner on 52 minutes and Holcs’ player-coach Middleton ensured the points were heading back to Rochester after striking with three minutes remaining.

It’s two wins from two for the men while the women enjoyed a big win themselves on Saturday, beating newly promoted Swansea 5-0.

Eloise Richards scored after just five minutes and they went into the break 2-0 ahead after Lorna Jane Cruickshank also scored.

The club’s Argentine pair Agueda Moroni Malgarejo and Ivana Pessina got in on the goalscoring to make it four before Beth Bingham completed the comprehensive win from a penalty corner.

In Division 1 South, Canterbury Ladies were denied an opening-day victory after conceding in the last minute against Cambridge City.

Elizabeth Jenkins had given the Polo Farm side the lead after 18 minutes but Kate Axford levelled from a penalty corner.

Sevenoaks Ladies also drew 1-1, in their match at Slough, scoring first through Lily Eliott on eight minutes but then conceding early in the second half.

Canterbury Ladies 2nds endured a nightmare start against St Albans in Conference East and were beaten 3-1. The home side were three goals ahead inside the first 10 minutes but Canterbury did at least get one back, through Dominique Masters.

Eimi Mezzadri and Jill Mullins scored for Bromley & Beckenham Women and they were leading the game against East London Ladies 2-1 but the home side fought back to win it 3-2.

In Men’s Division 1 South, Canterbury made a winning start after beating Sevenoaks 3-1.

Sam George put Sevenoaks ahead in the second half but Tom Bean equalised, Thomas Degiovanni put Canterbury ahead and Conor Annand made sure of the points with a late third.

Bromley & Beckenham men drew 0-0 with London Edwardians in Conference East.
