Gillingham could hardly have it any tougher in the FA Cup first round after drawing a trip to Sunderland.

Gills boss Steve Evans made a point of saying he was after a non-league club at home but instead they’re off to the north east to take on the 1973 winners.

National League Dover have drawn League 1 strugglers Southend at home after their late 2-1 comeback victory at Weymouth in the final qualifying round on Saturday.

That means Sol Campbell could be in the visitors’ dugout with the former Arsenal and Tottenham defender favourite to be named Shrimpers manager.

Maidstone, through to the first round for the sixth year running after a 4-1 win over Kings Langley, will host Torquay from the league above.

The clubs swapped divisions at the end of last season with United relegated from the National League while the Gulls won National League South.

Ebbsfleet will host fellow National League side Notts County if they win their replay at Woking on Tuesday night, a late goal denying them victory at the first attempt.

Welling also face a replay tomorrow following their goalless draw against Eastleigh on Saturday.

The sides are playing for a trip to Whitby or Stourbridge.

Bromley go to League 1 Bristol Rovers after beating Aldershot 4-3 in the final qualifying round.

Ties will be played between November 8 and 11 and carry prize money of £36,000.

FA Cup first round draw: Sunderland v Gillingham, Maidstone v Torquay, Whitby or Stourbridge v Welling or Eastleigh, Bristol Rovers v Bromley, Ebbsfleet or Woking v Notts County, Dover v Southend.
