Invicta Dynamos completed back to back wins at the weekend over the league leaders.

The Mos followed up a 4-2 away win over NIHL South Division 1 table-toppers Slough Jets with an 8-4 victory at Planet Ice, Gillingham on Sunday.

It was a much-needed boost for the Mos after a run of one win in their previous seven league outings, which included a 6-4 loss to the Jets last month.

But with a strong squad at his disposal, head coach Karl Lennon was thrilled to see his men show their best against the league’s pace-setters.

He said: “We knew we had a very tough proposition infront of us but the weekend was fantastic.

“The boys had prepared really well throughout the week and that finally shone through in our performances.

“For the first time in a number of weeks we had been able to pull together a strong squad, we have had weekends where we’ve missed 10-12 players through injury or suspension, that had a massive impact not just on the performances but the way we could play those games.”

The Mos started a little slow on Saturday, conceding first, but built up a 3-1 lead by the end of the opening period as Tom Soar, Ruskin Springer-Hughes and Mads Thune scored.

Slough pulled one back in the second period as they put the Mos under pressure but Tommy Huggett made it 4-2 as they saw the game out.

Lennon said: “For us, it was about discipline, focus and making sure that their top scoring lines didn’t have any chance at all and I think we did that well.”

The teams met again on Sunday for the second part of the double header and Soar struck twice to put the Dynamos 2-0 up, before they scored another four in the second period through Thune, Stanislav Lascek, Josh Condren and Owen Dell.

Leading 6-0 ahead of the final session, the Mos conceded four times, before hitting back through Dell and Brandon Chard.

“There were some exceptional performances across the team,” said the coach.

“It was about getting the job done in the final period and were it not for a bit of penalty trouble, where we seemingly wanted to invite it on ourselves, we would have done that much more comfortably than we did.

“They are are obviously a good team and that’s a credit to them, they didn’t stop, they kept coming, but I was very happy with how we then responded in the end by picking up a couple of late goals and sealing the deal very well.”
