Three of Medway’s leading kickboxers will be flying the flag for England in France this weekend.

They will be up against a French team in a big event to be staged in Saint-Quentin on Saturday.

Colin Payne, chief coach of the Chatham-based TKO Elite Gym, has picked the English team to face the French.

Chayden Carpenter, from TKO, comes straight from a first round knockout win for the British Junior Super-lightweight K1 title last week at the Casino Rooms in Rochester.

A former undefeated European junior champion under full contact, he has switched effortlessly to the K1 format and is so far undefeated under these rules.

Connor George is trained by Paul Wiffen at the Strood-based Paul Wiffen Academy and like Carpenter, he has also won a British Junior K1 title at the Casino Rooms, his being at super-welterweight over the accomplished Alex Hook.

Rytis Vilionis is the oldest member of the team, also fighting out of the TKO gym, and he will be looking to get back to winning ways having lost his Southern Area title at the recent event. He will face strong home fighter Abou Ka.

The three Medway kickboxers will be joined by a fourth English fighter, the ironically-named George French.
