Gillingham’s game at home to Bradford City on Sunday has been postponed.
A pitch inspection was made at Priestfield on Saturday morning and the surface is frozen.
Gills made the early call to avoid any wasted trip for the visitors from Bradford and with the freezing temperatures set to remain, there was not much hope of the surface improving.
Frost covers have been in place since Thursday’s FA Cup game against Dagenham but they haven’t been enough to avoid the weekend game being called off.
The club have said that “a date for the rearranged game at MEMS Priestfield Stadium will be confirmed in due course. Tickets and iFollow passes will remain valid for the fixture.”
Gillingham will now miss out on the chance to climb off the bottom of League 2, having dropped to the foot of the table after Hartlepool’s win at Crawley on Friday night.
The Gills are next in action at Stockport on Saturday, December 17.
Tickets for Gillingham’s League Cup game at Wolves, meanwhile, remain on general sale. The Gills head to Molineux for a fourth round match on Tuesday, December 20. No tickets are available on the day of the game and the Gills have an allocation of 1,737.
