Gillingham boss Steve Lovell looks ahead to visit of League 1 leaders Blackburn Rovers
00:00, 16 March 2018
Manager Steve Lovell is relishing Gillingham’s biggest game yet.
Title-chasing Blackburn have been beaten just once in their last 26 league matches and haven’t lost on any of their six previous visits to Priestfield.
Lovell has already claimed first-ever wins at Plymouth and Charlton this season but beating League 1 leaders Rovers for the first time at home would be something else.
Lovell, whose side are seven points off the play-off positions, said: “The boys love playing in big games and it doesn’t come any bigger than this as far as the way the season is at the minute.
“It’s set up lovely now for a good day on Saturday. It’s another big cup final for us and the more results we turn out the more it prolongs our season in a positive way.
“They are an excellent side with a great squad. They are on a great run and it is another great challenge for our boys to get a result.
“We know what a challenge it’s going to be but it’s one that we’re relishing, we’re looking forward to.
“Hopefully there should be a good crowd here and we can put on a performance where we can get a result.
“There is no reason why we can’t if we go about our work like we have been doing.”
