Dom Jefferies: Gillingham manager Mark Bonner latest on out-of-contract midfielder who has been linked to Millwall
05:00, 19 June 2024
Gillingham manager Mark Bonner accepts that midfielder Dom Jefferies is probably looking at options elsewhere.
Jefferies, 22, is out of contract but has been offered new terms by the Gills and because of his age there will be compensation due if he moves elsewhere and no fee is agreed.

Bonner, speaking on Tuesday morning, admits he was unsure if the Welshman will be with them for next season but expects a decision to be made on his future within the next two weeks.
Talking about the midfielder’s status, Bonner said: “He has a contract and he has not signed anywhere else or agreed on anything with us so he could still be here, he could be somewhere else.
“The fact that he hasn’t signed yet probably means he is trying to find something else but something else has to be right for us as well.
“There is no news on that, we will see what happens.
“If he is here then great, if not then that will enable us to do something else.
“We like him and the contract has been on the table for a long time from the club. We will have to see how that one plays out.
“I will be really surprised if we start pre-season and that situation isn’t sorted, one way or the other.”
Jefferies joined the Gills in the summer of 2022 after a year at Brentford, playing for their B team. He made 44 appearances for the club in his first season at Priestfield
Injuries disrupted his progress last season, missing two and a half months towards the end of the campaign. He finished with another 27 appearances, taking his Gills total to 71.
Gillingham chairman Brad Galinson recently commented on the situation, writing on X: “We love Dom. We've made him a good offer, but he needs to do what's best for him."
There have been reports that his former boss Neil Harris could be looking to take him to Millwall this summer.
