Max Ehmer is back after suspension but has to make do with a place on the bench.

Ehmer replaces Darren Oldaker as one of the seven substitutes.

There is no place in the squad for defender Alex Lacey, who is fit again but not ready to be included.

Gillingham are doing the business on the road but manager Steve Lovell has yet to taste victory in the league at Priestfield.

He gets another chance on Saturday with the visit of Oldham Athletic.

The Gills go into the weekend game after taking four points from their last two league outings, both away, enjoying a win at Walsall and a draw in Blackpool on Tuesday night.

Last meeting at Priestfield;

Oldham were sitting bottom of League 1 on their last visit to Priestfield but came from behind to win.

Cody McDonald headed the Gills infront when the sides met in October 2016 but Oldham levelled after the break through former Margate striker Freddie Ladapo.

Oldham’s second-half pressure paid off when Ryan Flynn guided the ball home with a minute left.

Justin Edinburgh, then in charge of the Gills, said afterwards that the big decisions went against his side but that Oldham still deserved the win.

From the opposite camp;

Oldham were held to a goalless draw by AFC Wimbledon at home on Tuesday night.

It was a dominant performance by the hosts, in charge for most of the 90 minutes, but they were unable to find a winner.

Manager Richie Wellens said: “The performance levels are there.

“Everyone’s confident. Everyone’s playing well. Keep doing that and play the same levels we did on Tuesday night and we’ll win the game.

“We’ve watched a couple of videos on them, so the lads will be okay and ready to go on Saturday.”

One to watch;

Eoin Doyle has been prolific for Oldham this season, scoring 13 goals in 16 appearances.

Eleven of his goals have come in League 1, which includes braces against Peterborough, Portsmouth and Rochdale.

The Irishman is on loan at Oldham from Preston North End, who feel he doesn’t suit their style. He’s likely to be sold when his loan ends in January.

Doyle, 29, has previously impressed in League 1 while at Chesterfield, scoring 32 league goals in 52 appearances, which earned him a move to Cardiff.

Five goals in 11 starts for the Welsh side wasn’t enough and he was on the move again, this time to Preston, signing permanently after a successful loan spell.

The Luton official has issued only one red card in his 16 games so far this season.

That game in the recent Plymouth versus Oxford game, dismissing home defender Ryan Edwards after just 14 minutes.

Oxford capitalised, winning the game 4-0.

Tom Eaves headed home a 90th minute equaliser for the Gills at Blackpool.

Kyle Vassell had fired home the opener for the Seasiders late in the first half.

Gillingham had won their previous three games away from home in the league and had to settle for a point from their long trek north on Tuesday night.

Boss Steve Lovell said: "You have to keep believing and that is what gave me a lot of pleasure in the second half.

“Sometimes you go in at half time and you are 1-0 down and everyone is doom and gloom. I told them I am positive, we have to be positive.

“It’s natural to feel like that when you are 1-0 down but it’s only one goal. The next goal in the second half is so important, as it proved to be.”

Gills team news;

Central Defender Alec Lacey could come into the squad this Saturday.

He hasn't featured since the home game with Scunthorpe at the end of September.

Lacey has been missing with an ankle injury picked up in training.

Max Ehmer comes back into the squad following his suspension. With Ben Nugent also back fit, it has given boss Steve Lovell plenty to think about.
