On-loan midfielder Oliver Muldoon made a favourable impression on boss Justin Edinburgh during his Gills debut.
Muldoon’s first training session with the Gills was on Thursday and two days later he was lining up for Edinburgh’s side against the league leaders.
It was Muldoon’s first ever senior appearance for any team in the league.
“I thought he was very good first half,” said Gills boss Edinburgh.
“We knew he would tire but he can be very pleased with his debut.”
Twenty-year old Muldoon is with the Gills on a youth loan until the end of the season.
Edinburgh said: “Oli is someone I have seen over the last year or so and I know with the noises coming out of Charlton he is progressing very well.
“His next step to continue was to play senior football and I felt it was a good opportunity for us to bring him here and get him involved in the senior set-up and hopefully give us real good competition for places in that midfield area. It is already strong but we are light in that area so it was a no-brainer for me.
“We have got a good acquisition between now and the end of the season.”
