Justin Edinburgh will be scouring the loan market again this week following another injury to Joe Martin.

The left-back limped out of action on Tuesday night with a hamstring injury.

Gills boss Edinburgh has limited options at left-back and that may mean he goes in search of a new face.

Speaking after Tuesday’s 3-0 loss to Chesterfield, he said: ”(Joe’s injury) is a blow and it’s a bad thing on a disappointing evening.

“We need to reflect on this disappointment first and then we will assess that.

“With Joe being our only left-back at the club we will probably have to address it.”

Martin is set to be missing for at least two weeks, in what is a busy time for the Gills, as they approach the Easter period.

The left-back has only just returned to the team following a previous injury. West Brom loanee Bradley Garmston was brought in as cover on that occasion but he too picked up an injury and has since returned to the Premier League side for rehabilitation.

Earlier this season the Gills loaned Adam Chicksen from Brighton, again as cover for Martin. He was recalled and is now on loan with League 1 rivals Fleetwood.
