Gillingham's top scorer Bradley Dack is hot property but boss Justin Edinburgh hopes he stays put

Boss Justin Edinburgh hopes Bradley Dack sees out the remainder of the season at the Gills.
The midfielder took his goal tally to 11 with a goal from the penalty spot in the 3-0 win at Millwall.
The transfer window is about to reopen in January but the Gills manager feels Priestfield is the right place for Dack, at least for now.
Edinburgh said: “I think we can keep him and it’s something I want to do.
“I have spoken with the chairman and it’s not something we want to do but we are fully aware that if someone comes with an offer that can’t be refused, we understand that does happen in football.
“To say he isn’t going to go is something I can’t say but myself and the chairman’s thinking is that to stay with us for another six months would only develop him further.
“Unless it’s something silly, we hope he will be with us for the duration of the season.”
Edinburgh feels Dack deserves Championship football and the Gills, who are in the thick of the League 1 promotion race, will need to meet the player’s ambition if they want to keep him long-term.
“He is certainly a Championship player,” said the manager.
Asked if the Gills would need to go up to keep him, Edinburgh was clear. “Yes,” he said.
“Definitely. Absolutely. You want to see the boy go and play higher, he deserves that.
“For a lad of 21, he has a mature head, is full of energy, he is tenacious, he has quality and he is a top player – definitely Championship quality.”
