Gillingham aren’t wasting any time sulking over Thursday night’s defeat.

With a trip to Doncaster coming up this weekend, manager Justin Edinburgh is keen to move on after seeing his side lost 3-2 at Wigan.

An injury-time goal denied them a place at the top of League 1.

Edinburgh said: “We have to get ourselves over this, pick the boys up, get back on the training ground and do some work.

“More times than not this group has always responded and I expect that to happen.

“We have had rest and recovered and done a bit of thinking, and preparation for Doncaster starts on Monday,”

The Gills were leading 2-0 with almost an hour gone at Wigan but conceded a quickfire double. Wigan then scored a 96th-minute winner.

“We have to learn,” Edinburgh said.

“This group learns quickly and learns all the time. It is tough to take but what we have to do is move on.

“It was hard to take afterwards but we don’t want to have too many more of these.

“It happened to us at Walsall and this is how we learn. We learn from playing games and we need to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
