John Marquis has turned down Gillingham in favour of a new deal at Millwall.
The striker impressed during a loan spell with the Gills towards the latter end of the season, prompting the club to make a permanent move.
Marquis, 23, was out of contract in the summer and both Millwall and Gillingham offered him a deal. He has chosen to stay with the London club, signing a one year deal, with an option of a second.
Millwall were relegated from the Championship and will be playing against the Gills next season in League 1.
Gills boss Justin Edinburgh had been confident of securing the striker’s services following an impressive loan spell. He netted eight goals in 18 league starts for the club.
Millwall had originally let the player go as former manager Ian Holloway didn’t rate him. But Holloway’s replacement, Neil Harris, was a fan and he has convinced the player to stay put at The Den.
