Tuesday night can’t come quick enough for the Gills, says bewildered boss Justin Edinburgh.

Edinburgh was left stunned at his side’s performance in the 3-0 FA Cup defeat to Stevenage.

The Gills are back in action on Tuesday night when they host Yeovil in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at Priestfield (kick-off 7.15pm).

For some players who started on Saturday, there definitely won’t be a place in the team.

“It can’t come quick enough and some players will lose their place,” said Edinburgh.

“They may not get back into the team for some time but they are accountable and that is the way it is. It is harsh but (Saturday’s performance) was unacceptable.

“You have to take the subs out of the equation but if I put my hand on my heart, I can’t really say that anyone has come out of the game with any credibility and that says it all. You can carry one or two but you can’t carry 11 players.

“This is massive now and we have a lot of answers to find.”

Loan defender Adedeji Oshilaja could be among those who Edinburgh names in his team. Oshilaja, on loan from Championship side Cardiff, has been out for two months but returned to training with the Gills last week.

Suspended pair Bradley Dack and Josh Wright are also back available. Dack missed Saturday’s game after picking up his fifth yellow card the week before while Wright has now completed a three-game ban for a red card against Scunthorpe.

Harry Lennon will also be available for selection after his parent club Charlton denied him permission to play in Saturday’s FA Cup defeat at Stevenage.

A yellow card for Brennan Dickenson on Saturday, for dissent, will keep him out as that was his fifth caution of the season, meaning an automatic one-game ban.
