Gillingham manager Peter Taylor reacts to his team's goalless draw against Walsall at Priestfield

Gills boss Peter Taylor rued his team’s lack of cutting edge against Walsall.
His side had plenty of the ball but were unable to see off tricky opponents at Priestfield on Saturday.
He said: “Walsall showed that they are one of the best passing teams in the division and it was always a difficult match.
"They came to us after getting beaten 4-0 in the week and that meant they were going to be a bit more determined.
“We should have opened them up a couple of times when McGlashan got in but we didn’t. They had a couple of chances early on but I still feel it was a fair result.
“I am not so sure we had a cutting edge. When we got to that final third I didn’t think we had enough cleverness, either in the delivery of the ball but also the position of the players, to be in an area to get the ball. That was disappointing and I am sure that is something we can talk about and work on next week.
“It was a bit of a frustrating day because I think we are a lot better than that. You can’t change it. We have to get on with it and learn from it and I have no doubt we will.”
The point on Saturday followed a midweek win over Peterborough.
Taylor said: “I know we can play a lot better and the players do too.
“We would have loved to have put on another good performance like we did against Peterborough but it wasn’t to be.
“If you can try and aim for four points every two games then you will have a decent season, thats for sure. If we can keep nicking deserved points and working as a group then we are okay.
“I want people to realise that we are a young team. I could see certain supporters were disappointed. We are frustrated but this is what we are. We are improving.
“It doesn’t mean that because you beat Peterborough in the week you are just going to turn anyone over. It doesn’t work like that.
“We will have days again like this but I can assure everyone that every Monday morning we will be in and working at putting things right.”
