Gillingham’s inability to hold onto a 2-0 lead was used by Doncaster boss Darren Ferguson to motivate his team on Saturday.
Ferguson also accused Gillingham of time-wasting “during the warm-up” in his post-match interview following the 2-2 draw.
“We dominated and I can’t believe we didn’t win,” said the former Peterborough boss.
“They (Gillingham) were just time-wasting and playing on the counter-attack. I think they were time-wasting in the warm-up to be honest.”
Rory Donnelly put the Gills ahead early on and added a second just after the break.
“They have shown they can lose leads,” said the Doncaster manager.
“They were 2-0 up against Walsall and lost and 2-0 up to Wigan and lost. We mentioned it at half-time.
“When it went to 2-2 I thought we would go on and win it and I’m disappointed with the result.”
