Holcombe ladies have clinched promotion to the top flight of women’s hockey.
An 8-2 play-off victory over Brooklands Poynton on Sunday at Reading HC confirmed their place in the Investec Premier Division for the first time, having beaten Buckingham 6-0 on Saturday.
Megan Frazer scored twice, with captain Leigh Maasdorp, Lauren Osborn, Laura Unsworth and Nicci Daly also on target in the win over Buckingham.
Holcs knew victory over Brooklands would take them up and they did it in style, helped by a hat-trick from Frazer.
She set up the opener for Daly and Holcombe doubled their lead with a superb individual effort from Shelley Russell.
Holcombe dominated after the break and were soon four up thanks to a Lucy Wood penalty stroke and Frazer’s strike from a short corner.
Three goals in four minutes, from Steph Elliott, Frazer and Russell, followed as Holcs extended their lead.
Brooklands replied through Cat Savage and she scored again after Frazer completed her hat-trick for Holcombe.
Captain Maasdorp said: “We’re relishing the opportunity to play against some of the top teams. It’s such an exciting place to be for the team and the club.”
