Holcombe’s Ollie Payne has been selected for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games by Great Britain.

Payne, 25, will be competing in his second Games having played at the delayed Tokyo Olympics in 2021 in Japan.

He has amassed 69 international caps - 35 of those for England and 34 for Great Britain.

Payne was also nominated for the FIH goalkeeper-of-the-year award last year and will be hoping to earn a chance at that title again.

Holcombe’s new director of hockey and men’s first-team head coach Kwan Browne will also be travelling to Paris as an assistant coach to Paul Revington for GB's men.

England men’s head coach Revington said: “I’m incredibly proud to announce this group of athletes that will represent Team GB in Paris.

“This is the result of three years of effort, intensity, and real enjoyment together as a squad and we look forward to representing Great Britain on the biggest stage in our sport.

“The team that travels to Paris is only as strong as the squad around them and a reflection of the squad as a whole.

“Everyone has contributed unconditionally on our journey, adding immense value along the way and the selected athletes have the privilege of representing our locker room and their teammates at the Paris Olympic Games.

“This team is also supported by world-class coaches and practitioners, who have been a huge part of the squad’s journey to this point.

“I would like to acknowledge their significant contributions over the past three years before we start our final push towards the Olympic Games.”

Brad Read has been selected as a travelling reserve for New Zealand while former Holc Hayden Phillips has been selected for the full 16 by coach Greg Nicol - also ex-Holcombe.

Meanwhile, former Holcombe players Sarah Jones, Miriam Pritchard, Sarah Robertson, Charlotte Watson, David Ames, Phil Roper and Sam Ward have also all been selected by Team GB.

Canterbury-born Grace Balsdon is among the reserves for England Women’s Olympics team.
