Gillingham picked up injuries to two of their central defenders at the weekend.
Boss Steve Lovell was fuming on the touchline at the challenge that was to eventually end Connor Ogilvie’s afternoon early and Gills then withdrew captain Gabriel Zakuani late on after he suffered a blow to the head.
“Hopefully Connor Ogilvie won’t be too badly injured,” said Lovell, after substituting him in the second half.
The on-loan Spurs defender suffered a knee injury after a heavy challenge midway through the first half.
Zakuani was replaced by Max Ehmer, who had returned from injury himself, missing the previous six games with a dislocated shoulder.
“Gabs came off as a precaution,” said Lovell. “It was nice to have Max Ehmer go on and coming back in. It was a knock to the head for Gabs. He had a bit of double vision and we didn’t want to risk anything.
“We gave Max a few minutes because he will be needed between now and the end of the season.”
One big player missing from the squad was striker and leading scorer Tom Eaves.
“He has got an ankle injury and it hasn’t really cleared up,” said Lovell. “He has been rested. Hopefully we come in (today) Monday and he’ll be okay for next week.
“There was no point him going out and lasting 20 minutes and then being out for a month.”
